From July 3, 2022, Vietnamese shipments of vermicelli, glass noodle, and noodle (pho) exported to the European Union (EU) do not need to supplement the Food Safety Certificate issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, nor are controlled at EU border gates.
Specifically, on June 13, the EU posted a notice of Regulation (EU) 2022/913 dated May 30, 2022 amending the new Regulation on emergency measures to control food exports to the EU.
Accordingly, the EU has officially removed vermicelli, glass noodle and pho from the list of regulations requiring the use of a Food Safety Certificate according to Appendix 2 to Regulation No. (EU) 2021/2246 amending and supplementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793. The regulation takes effect from July 3, 2022.
The EU continues to maintain the requirement to supplement the Certificate of Food Safety, with shipments of instant noodles originating from Vietnam in ingredients containing spices and some other seasonings and additives. The EU continues to maintain dragon fruit in the list of additional requirements for the use of a food safety certificate according to Appendix 2 to Regulation No. (EU) 2021/2246 amending and supplementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793, with reason Dragon fruit is still a high risk for food safety, and the frequency of shipments being warned has not made much progress. The spice groups still maintain the frequency of checks at the EU border at 50%.
